Lumineers

What are Lumineers?

Lumineers are designed to give you a beautiful and natural smile in the least invasive ways. Lumineers are ultra-thin (only about 0.2mm) and highly translucent. The translucency allows replications of the natural appearance of enamel. It is custom-made like traditional porcelain veneers to fit each individual’s mouth; it is also very durable and can last for many years given the plaque control and recommended care are exercised. Lumineers requires less preparation and little to no removal of enamel from the surface of the tooth. It cover the visible portions of the teeth, repair imperfections, straighten and lengthen teeth, conceal discoloration, and are naturally stain resistant.

I’ve heard that a veneer procedure hurts? Is that true with Lumineers?

Preparation for Lumineers without anesthetics Is possible because of the minimally invasive nature of the procedure. Such procedure takes only two office visits and shorter appointments than crowns, thus, minimally invasive treatment eliminates or minimizes sensitivity or soreness.

Can Lumineers replace the need for orthodontic correction?

Maybe. Lumineers can change the shape and alignment of teeth, making them look straighter and more uniform. However, the ideal route for the best outcome of aesthetics and function may require correction with Invisalign or conventional orthodontics prior to preparation for Lumineers

How long will Lumineers last?

Clinical testing has proven that a Lumineers can last and look great for up to 20 years.

With Lumineers, how is the plaque control differing from crowns or veneers?

You can continue to brush with your favorite toothpaste and floss regularly as you did before you had Lumineers. As with natural teeth, you should always try to choose low-abrasion toothpaste that will remove plaque, stain, and tartar gently, but effectively.

Are there dietary restrictions with Lumineers,?

Yes, All restorations that are laid over original teeth using best technique and material can still brake off or come off. Care must be exercised not to overindulge with hard brittle snacks and sticky treats. Habits such as biting nails, chewing on pens and pencils can be one reason for breaking or chipping of the porcelain. Maintaining recommended routine care is very important aspect of maintenances.
